Close to Brick lane so quite convenient. The place was good and clean. Unfortunatly didn't meet Tarina but her uncle. The studio has everything you need and is close to the underground.
Great little studio. Location is super duper. When I make it back to London, I'll stay again.
Me and two friends had the pleasure to be Tarinas guests for one night from 31st of October 2015.
The Rooftop Terraced Studio with WiFi was much smaller then expected from the pictures, everything looked very "selfmade" there. Part of the roof of the room is only made of clear plastic corrugated trim roofing which i expect to get a little draughty in the winter.
The terrace however was great. It was bigger than the room and had a nice small bench/table combination and a few plants.
Everything was perfectly clean and Tarinas uncle did a very good job cleaning up the mess from the guests before us.
The bathroom was usable but none of us could figure out how to get the water out of the hand shower, so we had to take a bath instead of showering. Unfortunatly the sink of the bathtub somehow broke and released the water into the bathroom instead down the drain. I have no idea how this could have happened. I called Tarina and told her about and she said to be cool about it and that they will look after it.
Tarina and her uncle were generally very nice and likeable persons and we had a very nice smalltalk when we arrived in the morning. It was a really lovely and warm welcome.
The residence itself is located in what i would call "arabic district" of London. There are mostly arabic people on the street and the shops are also not very "english". Everybody was very nice and firendly but this part on London is unfortunately very very dirty. There is garbage lying around everywhere and it's really not a nice view.
It's a relatively short walk of about 15 Minutes to the Tower Bridge and if you walk there, the city gets cleaner and cleaner with lesser garbage every minute.
Our initial impressions were not encouraging, as the street noise was intrusive and kept up pretty much all night. But this was close to central London (we walked to the Tower of London and St. Paul's), so perhaps it was unreasonable to expect some local calm. The flat is an extension built onto the roof level. This meant that the noise was difficult to exclude, even with double glazing, but the flat came with the advantage of a large terrace exclusive to this flat. The hosts were obliging and charming.
The flat is well equipped for self-catering and there are quite a few restaurants, cafes and take away food options nearby (this seems to be the Bangla centre of London). Four people could stay here comfortably enough (2 double beds). A little more attention to finish (eg. replacing the broken & stained plywood doors to the separate bathroom) and to security (better locks on the windows and the doors leading onto the terrace) would improve the place considerably.
In summary, it works as a base to explore London and as an acceptable refuge from the busy streets in the evenings.
We stayed there for 11 days and almost felt at home. Every thing perfect. Communication very easy. When we had a question they called imediately back or answered via Mail. Little studio with every thing we needed. Perfect for 2 people. Not calm, but what do you expect in the middle of London. It was no problem for us. Bus just in Front of our apartment that brought us directly to Piccadilly Circus and saved us during the tube strike. WLAN/ Wifi and TV worked without problems. Towels and bed clean. Water always warm.
Shops just a few meters away. Restaurants around. About 8 min to the underground. We liked it very much and we would come back.

This apartment is amazing - cosy, well situated, clean and fresh. Tarina left us with a well stocked cupboard and all the cooking equipment we needed. The location was so close to everything! Thank you so much! I hope to stay again soon. Kris & Kris
The apartment is nice, cosy, bright, well located and very clean.
I stayed here for 4 days and 5 nights with a friend and we felt perfectly at home.
The small kitchenette is very useful and fully equipped for 2 or 3 people; the bed is very comfortable and the shower worked perfectly. There was even a washing machine that we didn’t have the time to use. There were even europe adaptors, thanks a lot for this courtesy.
What’s been said about the traffic noise (ambulances, police sirens, etc.) is accurate. It didn’t really bother us too much but it does get quite at times, but not excessively noisy, which might bother some hosts especially at night time. Also, the wood Venetian blinds do not hide the bright lights properly from the main avenue. It would be great if the owner could get a long and thick curtain and double glazing. This would really solve the only negative points of this accommodation.
It is a very lively quarter. You’ll find everything you need nearby in terms of food, goods and services. Both tube stations Aldgate East or Whitechapel (District/Hammersmith & City lines) are approximately 10 minutes’ walk from the apartment. If you’re a tube addict as myself, please do consider taking bus 15. The bus stop “New road” is nearly in front of the house and it takes you directly to several central points of interest such as St Paul’s cathedral, Tower hill and Trafalgar square (last stop). It is rather comfortable heading back home from Trafalgar on the 15. It does take about half an hour but it is direct and a rather pleasant trip.
The apartment that you will be booking online might not be the one you’ll get. Tarina and her family rent several small apartments in the area but they seem to be quite similar. We met several Tarina’s relatives during the stay, notably at the check in/out. They live in the area and are very kind and helpful. Everything was very functional so we just contacted them once to let them know that the remote control wasn’t working and they quickly replaced it. They also managed to keep our luggage before and after the check in/out, which was extremely useful for us. If you need any help do not hesitate to communicate with any of them. Thank you Tarina, Bill and Mabs for your kindness and assistance.
See you someday maybe. :-)
