The host is being helpful and nice. The price-performance ratio OK, the location very well. I was satisfied.
Jim provided a warm and friendly welcome on my arrival in Edinburgh, where I stayed for a month and enjoyed every minute! The room was very comfortable and clean, the flat was well equipped and I was made to feel right at home. The location was perfect, only a five minute walk to Prince Street and Jim can recommend all the interesting places and facts about the amazing city and the historical flat you'll be staying in. Jim is friendly, easy going and great to have a chat with.
I could not have asked for a better place and host during my stay and would not hesitate to recommend staying there!
It's all there!
Scottish Tourist Board approved many B&Bs.
Location! Location! Location!
Ardgarth Guest House at Portobello (Rated 4-Star by STB = the Scottish Tourist Board)
Best room at this place is room 1(ensuite). Different size and type! Rooms equipped with extra electric radiator in addition to the central heating! What a luxury!. Choice of breakfast(excellent) and served by a few friendly young girls. Fresh air from Firth of Forth! Very tidy and clean! 1 St Mary's Pl, Edinburgh EH15 2QF
Edinburgh Holiday Guest House (STB) on Minto Street, Newington where you'll countless B&Bs!
Renovated and modernised! Clean! The rooms are cleaned daily! English breakfast or (unedible) noodle soup which was so salty I cannot even swallow the first bite! Many buses bring you to Princes Street.
Homestay at Moat Place (15 minutes to Princes Street), Staircase not so pleasant looking and a !fragrance of Indian spice pervades the air! The flat is not unpleasant although no effort was made to make it pleasing to the eyes. A sumptious breakfast is provided. A second duvet with stained bedsheet was available. I used it and skin rashes developed on my thigh!
Caveat Emptor – it is all there, take your pick – STB approved Eyre Guest, Ardenlee although not there personally I'd trust the STB.
This one bedroom flat is situated in a prime location within 5 minutes of walking distance into the heart of city Center.
The host is very pleasant, welcoming and helpful. This is a budget accommodation with basic facilities.
I must remind that the window needs immediate attention as it rattles through wind and draft was not in short supply. Make sure you have adequate clothing.
All in all it the price was right.
Jim was an excellent host and was always at hand to help needed.
His flat was brilliantly situated, with shops, cafes, bars and village life all around.
I slept like a log and enjoyed the feeling of being at home rather than that of being a traveller.
We had a lovely stay with Jim in Edinburgh. He was very helpful and picked us up from the bus stop. We also received many tips and event information on Edinburgh from him. Our room had a sufficient size (we got a bigger one, than we booked before) and we were allowed to use kitchen and bathroom.
Thanks for the nice place to stay!
the apartment was rirtig bad, dirty , very dirty - bathroom and kitchen was so disgusting :( Jim is a sweet to talk to, but he was fudl often and I felt uncomfortable in a room next to where there was not locked .
Jim is a really friendly and helpful host who knows lots about the city of Edinburgh. The single room was a little crowded for two people, but we could move to the double room after a few nights which was very nice. There is one shared bathroom for all the visitors. The kitchen (fridge, microwave etc.) can be used to prepare small meals. All the important sights are in walking distance from the flat, the location is very central. For breakfast we recommend the little cafe located in the ground floor of the same building!
The owner Jim is very kind and helpful. The room is very small, especially for 2 persons. It is in a house, shared with other travelers. During our stay, one room was occupied by 3 chinese girls and another room by 3 mexican girls. Bathroom facilities are shared with all guests, which can be a problem at times (especially in the morning). The apartment is located at a prefect site in the middle of Edinburgh centre.
This is a handy and affordable place to stay in a nice street close to the centre of Edinburgh. Good place to explore the festival. Jim is a friendly and welcoming host. There’s a lovely café next door too. (I think it’s twin beds now in case that’s not clear from the snaps.)
